Dual Disaster in Indonesia

At least 10 villages were flattened when the tsunami triggered by a 7.7-magnitude offshore earthquake pounded the Mentawai islands late Monday off the west coast of Sumatra.

Indonesia's Mount Merapi erupted three times after scientists warned that pressure building beneath its dome could trigger the most powerful explosion in years. A two-month-old baby reportedly died as panicked villagers fled the area.
