World's Narrowest House in Poland

This house, in Poland, is currently under construction, so technically it’s not the world’s narrowest house yet. It will be when it is completed in a matter of months though. The current title for that claim to fame is “The Wedge” in Great Cumbrae. When this house is completed, it will be called “The Ermitage,” and it’s definitely an architectural masterpiece.

This whole house is only 52 inches wide (1.32 meters) inside at the widest place (it’s 40 feet long). It has one bedroom, one bathroom, a sitting area and a kitchen on both floors. In the original design, the space was deeper and sported stairs, which you can see in the pictures below. However, later the designer decided it would not have stairs, but a ladder instead. When asked where he got his inspiration to build this house, Jakub Szczesny replied, “I saw the gap and just thought it needed filling. It will be used by artists.” There is not much room for any furniture or personal belongings, so the tenants will have to be content enjoying a simple lifestyle.
